YMCA Before & After School Open Registration Going on Now!

When you need convenient and affordable before and after school care, this program is for you!

* COVID-19 UPDATE: With the start of the school year looking very different than in years past, we are making plans to adapt our programs to meet the needs of our participants and families.  At this time, we are planning to offer Afterschool as normal at the YMCA Kid Center and schools we serve!

The YMCA’s Before and After School Program serves children from kindergarten to age 12 for children in Hopkins County.  We offer before and after school at the YMCA Kid Center (providing transportation to and from school), as well as After School at Hanson Elementary and Earlington Elementary.  Our program nurtures the spirit, mind and body, giving children the ability to develop and reach their full potential.

As with all of our YMCA youth care and enrichment opportunities, this program is designed to meet the developmental characteristics and needs of the youth we serve.  Program directors are mindful that children develop greatly during school years and activities are geared accordingly, from help with homework to “blowing off steam.”  The YMCA is a trusted partner with a proven track record.

About the Program
The balanced program supports academic achievement, fosters health and wellness, and instills positive social-emotional skills through:

At the Kid Center, we believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve.  Books open entire worlds to kids, and literacy forms the foundation upon which all other learning depends.

Giving children the opportunity to participate in regular physical activity to learn about healthy choices is what we are all about!  We focus on fitness, health nutrition.

The YMCA is helping all children reach their full potential by supporting their unique youth development journeys.  Youth are engaged in year-round STEM activities that nurture their curiosity, inspire creativity and teach them how to succeed.

Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) teaches children how to make healthy food choices and to enjoy physical activity, contributing to their social and physical development.

An afterschool setting is the perfect place for youth to immerse themselves in their inner artist.  Children are provide opportunities to explore the Arts through exploration and engagement, structures arts and crafts or STEM activities.  Exposure to the Arts help youth build on their natural creativity, with providing a creative outlet for self and group exploration.

Children in our program receive structured academic support each afternoon.

Social and emotional tools are the tools both children and adults use in social interactions and to manage every day emotional responses.  Building strong social and emotional skills help us to be more resilient when faced with adversity.

The YMCA movement defines character as the demonstration of five core values: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith.  YMCA staff intentionally model these values with children and other staff members.

The Y’s afterschool program provides youth with a safe place to go when school lets out.  More importantly, it helps youth realize who they are and what they can achieve.

We use survey feedback to grow to fit our families’ needs.

The Y is the largest provider of before/after school programming nationally and statewide, with a history of loyalty, trust and satisfaction.
